My son, Tyler, and his dad/my husband have been section hiking the the Appalachian Trail together since Tyler was seven. Over 300 miles to date from the start in Georgia, not counting the eight they re-hiked for my sake to capture this portrait. They picked an amazingly picturesque destination in the Smoky Mountains called Charlie’s Bunion. In middle school Tyler posted on his Instagram account that he would, “rather be at the top of a mountain or the bottom of an ocean.” It was about two years ago that I captured the bottom of the ocean scuba diving image, so I’m very excited to now have the top of the mountain!
