What a pleasure it has been to get to know this precious family better! Rachel and I are Girl Scout leaders in the same service unit. Rachel is quite impressive! Not only has she been a Girl Scout leader for over a decade, but she has also served in multiple leadership roles for our service unit. Emma is following in her mom’s footsteps, as a leader that wants to make a difference in her community! She has been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten. Her troops’ Silver Award focused on encouraging self-esteem and body positivity for all, including participants at the Boys and Girls Club, as well as three additional Girl Scout troops. The green button on her Girl Scout vest is the logo for their Silver Award. Emma is also to be commended for completing the highest Girl Scout Award! Her Gold Award focus was creating a Red Cross Club at her school that meets one time a month. She also set up a blood drive and first aid/CPR class. Sophia is their precious Cookapoo. You will notice that all three of the ladies of the family are wearing pearls, which has a triple meaning: Sophia’s full name is Sophia Pearl, as an homage to their last beloved fur baby Ruby, and for Juliette Gordon Low. Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, sold a strand of rare pearls in 1914 in order to help pay rent for a Washington, DC national office for the Girl Scouts.
