I had a wonderful time photographing Carole during her business portrait session. She is beautiful both inside and out! Her extremely important job requires a very kind and caring demeanor, which are attributes I would definitely use to describe Carole. Read more below about her role in helping families lead positive, loving and giving lives together each and every day. If you are in the Raleigh area, Carole would be a great resource to help you and your family to live life to it’s fullest potential.
What path lead you to become a Marriage and Family Therapist?
We all struggle with family issues of our own, even family therapists. I believe that my passion for working with families comes from a real desire to understand how families work so that I could help others have healthier relationships and the children could learn early in life about what a strong healthy marriage looks life. This way they have a good model for a relationships when its their turn.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part is seeing couples fall in love again and tell me they never thought it could feel this way again for them. They even say that it is a stronger healthier relationship than when they started their marriage.
What is the most challenging?
The most challenging part is getting couples to have hope that things can change. Once they feel a little bit of hope they can begin to make the changes they need to be successful as a couple and a family. My job is to give them hope and the strength and support they need to do the hard work it takes to have a strong marriage.
Can you share a few words of advice to married couples for things they can to to help keep their marriage strong?
Absolutely! The first thing I would recommend is treating each other like your best friend. I think we forget to do this and over time stop treating our partners as our confidants and friends. The other thing I would recommend is to take influence from one another, meaning really hear your partners thoughts and opinions and respect them. Try to understand from their perspective what they are feeling and expressing to you, then take some of this information and make it useful in the marriage by using it to make changes of your own.
What advice would you give to families to stay connected in our very busy society?
Always make time for each other at mealtimes, bedtimes and weekends. Start saying no to some other obligations and start saying yes to family time, every week.
